29 March 2023

NickALive! Press Release

Created by Kevin and Dan Hageman, the Children’s and Family Emmy Award-winning series is from Nickelodeon Animation and CBS Studios’ Eye Animation Productions.
Star Trek: Prodigy season 1 premiered in the fall of 2021 but broke up its 20 episodes into two halves, with the show’s second set of 10 episodes released during fall 2022. In addition to streaming on Paramount Plus, the series airs on Nickelodeon. While Star Trek: Prodigy‘s goal is to bring new young viewers to the franchise, the CGI-animated Star Trek series received acclaim from fans of all ages.

What To Expect From Star Trek: Prodigy Season 2

Star Trek: Prodigy season 1 told an epic story of the show’s six young alien heroes saving Starfleet and the galaxy from destruction.

At the end of of season 1, Dal R’El (Brett Gray) and his friends were accepted into Starfleet as warrant officers under the supervision of Vice Admiral Kathryn Janeway (Kate Mulgrew). Prodigy season 1’s finale set up intriguing directions for season 2, as Janeway must now lead a new mission into an alternate future to rescue the stranded Captain Chakotay (Robert Beltran), with Dal and the others coming along to help. Meanwhile, Gwyndala (Ella Purnell) is traveling to her homeworld of Solum to try to prevent the dark path her people, the Vau’Nakat, will take against Starfleet.

Star Trek: Prodigy surprised and delighted fans with its rich characters and exciting storytelling, as well as its multitude of Star Trek legacy guest stars. Famous faces from the past like Captain Thadiun Okona (Billy Campbell), Admiral Jellico (Ronny Cox), and others appeared in Prodigy season 1, and executive producers Kevin and Dan Hageman promise even more legacy characters will appear in season 2.
Prodigy has also become a sequel of sorts to Star Trek: Voyager; it not only re-established Admiral Janeway’s lofty status in Starfleet, but it continues Janeway’s relationship with Chakotay. The Hagemans have indicated they have plans for more seasons of Star Trek: Prodigy, and even a possible feature film. But it’s good to know it won’t be too long a wait until Star Trek: Prodigy season 2 returns later this year.
