Crowdabunga! The Crowd Challenges of TMNT: Mutant Mayhem
Tuesday, 30 July / 10:45am – 11:07am MDT

How to Control Mayhem: The Painted Look of Hair on TMNT
Tuesday, 30 July / 10:45am – 12:15pm MDT

“TMNT Mutant Mayhem” (2023) aimed for a hand-crafted 2D look that was especially challenging for the look and feel of the groom. We developed a layered system that combined modeled geometry, curves, a stylized surfacing, rendering, and lighting approach to seamlessly integrate the groom in the rendering scenes.

Oozing Hand Crafted 2D Illustration Into a 3D Ninja Turtle World
Wednesday, 31 July / 11:15am – 12:15pm MDT

Building the stylization at each step gave the director a strong vision for the graphic quality of the assets and lighting out of render before the finalization of shots in compositing. All of these techniques were developed to give the best artistic leverage to each department, to add artistic and show specific features… and ultimately to create a hand-crafted feel.
