VOIX D’ETOILES 2017 : THE LEGENDARIES WON THE “BEST SERIES” AWARD

15 November 2017

The winners of the 12th Voix d’Etoiles event, the only festival in France that rewards voice talents in the area of animation, were revealed on October 29, 2017.

Six awards were handed out at the closing ceremony, and a “Star of Honor” was given to Gérard Hernandez by the mayor of Leucate (southern France), Michel Py, for his entire career as a voice actor to date. Today, the prize for the best animation show, bestowed by a jury of children, was handed in person to Prakash Topsy (who was unable to attend the ceremony in October) for the animation show The Legendaires (Technicolor Animation).

The international festival for voices in animated movies, Voix d’Etoiles, has made its mark both with the general public and in cinematographic circles. Specifically, its Best Animated Show category is the only one of its kind in France because the prizes are awarded by a jury made up of kids. Early October 2017, the young people on the jury panel were announced, in the presence of Michel Py (Leucate’s mayor) and Monique Ching (vice mayor), following a random draw among fourth and fifth-grade students from Leucate’s grade schools.

Léa, Chloé, Ema, Gabriel and Lucas were accompanied by an animation professional, to help them carry out their sensitive assignment, consisting of:

• Watching episodes from the 6 competing shows;

• Meeting the voice actors, composers and musicians, and the directors;

• Picking out the best animation show after a certain amount of discussion and deliberation.

The 5 young girls and boys unanimously chose the French animated show The Legendaires “based on the graphics, storyline and soundtrack.” An exquisite reward for this incredibly successful show, adapted from Patrick Sobral’s comic books, set in a world of fantasy, with adventure and surprises at every turn.
