About Scott Carroll

Scott joined Mikros Animation as the Global Head of Character Animation in 2021. Prior to Mikros Animation, Scott was the Head of Animation at Blue Sky Studios, overseeing all aspects of animation and crowds.

During his nearly 20 years of experience in the animation industry, Scott has worked and led on some of the most iconic properties in the feature animation, visual effects, and games industries. He began his career in 2003 as an animator at Maxis Studios working on the popular video game, The Sims. Shortly after, he moved to Industrial Light and Magic where he got to live out a childhood dream of being part of the Star Wars franchise, working on Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith.

In 2005, Scott became an animator at Blue Sky Studios, a studio he would call home for the better part of 16 years. There, he animated on the extremely popular Ice Age films, Horton Hears a Who, Rio, and Epic. In 2013, he became an Animation Supervisor, leading the animation teams on the Golden Globe-nominated The Peanuts Movie, the Academy Award-nominated Ferdinand, and Nimona (unreleased). Scott became the Head of Animation in 2017.

Scott’s educational background is unique. He attended the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. He then served five years of active duty in the Coast Guard. After fulfilling his commitment, he decided to follow his love of art and film and attended the Academy of Art University, earning a Master of Fine Arts in Animation. After learning from so many great teachers and supervisors over the years, Scott decided to help inspire and mentor future animators. He taught at Animation Mentor for seven years.

In 2016, Scott was nominated for a Visual Effects Society award for his work on The Peanuts Movie, and in 2018, he became a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS).
