THE COOP TROOP : A NEW PRODUCTION PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN SIXTEEN SOUTH, FRANCE TELEVISIONS, TENCENT AND MIKROS ANIMATION

14 June 2021

UK’s producer Sixteen South has announced that The Coop Troop will be co-produced by Tencent Kids in China, public broadcaster France Televisions and Mikros Animation (formerly Technicolor Animation Productions).

The Coop Troop is a 52 x 11-minute series for kids ages six to nine, co-created by Sixteen South’s Colin Williams and children’s author and illustrator Alex Smith. It is the first CGI animated series of Sixteen South. The Coop Troop tells about an unlikely bunch of heroes on high-action missions to help any animal with a problem. They’re four farm animals (and an egg) who are thirsty for adventure and eager to escape their ordinary life on the farm in their mobile chicken coop.

Our loveable bunch of heroes have their flaws but as a team they work through them to emerge stronger, which is a valuable lesson for today’s kids and one that will resonate globally.”

Sandrine Nguyen, SVP, Episodic and IP at Mikros Animation

Currently in production, The Coop Troop is planned for delivery in Fall 2022 and will be presented at this year’s Annecy International Animation Film Festival. Sixteen South Rights is managing the global distribution rights for the series outside of France and China. In France, the series will be aired as part of France Televisions’ Okoo programme.
